Element Of Time media je novým labelem na psytrance scéně. Cílem tohoto labelu je vydávat pestrou škálu psychedelické muziky bez nějakého definitivního přiřazení k obvyklým škatulkám fullon/dark/progressive. Prvním releasem ETM je kompilace nazvaná Vapour, která je k mání v elektronické formě v podobě wav nebo mp3 souborů. Obsahuje 11 tracků zmasterovaných Lawrence Hoffmanem (aka Chromatone). Kompilace začíná experimentální věcí nazvanou Input Flip, která byla původně složena projektem Lemurians a nyní zremixována švédským bláznem Procs. Tenhle chlapík se proslavil hlavně svým debutovým albem Stuck in the oven with me. Jeho skladba na Vapour je v podobném stylu: nejistá rytmika a spousty prapodivných organických zvuků. I přes vrstevnatost všemožného bordelu se v závěru vydrápe na světlo typická melodie a la Lemurians.
Druhý track vytvořil v Čechách již vystoupivší Mubali společně italským projektem Infinitesimal. Skladba jede v podstatě v podobném stylu; basa nemůže chvíli vydržet na místě, zato kvílejících tripoidních zvuků je zde ažaž.
Halava je nový makedonský projekt, který vzniknul spojením mozků z Atriohm, Yudhisthiry a Encephalopaticys. Většina jejich skladeb jsou smutné příběhy od ponurých, mlhou zalitých bažin a ani tato není vyjímkou. Snad jen lehké goa melodie, které jsou typickým rukopisem Yudhisthiry, celou věc trochu prosvětlují.
Ocelot svou další skladbou trochu přidává kompilaci voltáž. Jeho tracky jsou tradičně napjaté a směřující kamsi, ovšem zrovna tento nějak míjí pointu.
Projekt Aldous B se už objevil na několika extrémistických kompilacích jako například Deep Mental Trauma nebo Predecessor. Jeho skladba na této kompilaci je podle mého názoru zatím tím nejlepším co z jeho dílny vypadlo. Nářadí má, jak je slyšet, dost, od pořádných traverz až po nanotechnologie.
Pan Ghreg On Earth ze San Francisca vytvořil powernoiseovou rozvrzanou šílenost, která se neustále rozkládá a zase skládá, tu a tam se vzpříčí ozubené kolo. Ke slyšení jsou buď krystalicky čisté zvuky, nebo špinavé rozklížené noise zběsilosti. Celá skladba je proložena zajímavými, tak trochu zašedlými ambientovými plochami.
Encephalopaticys se vynořuje znovu a tentokrát si vzal na pomoc řecký projekt, jehož specialitou jsou noční pekla @ Kulu. Jejich spolupráce dopadla nad očekávání dobře a je jasně cítit, že pánové ví, jakých akustických vibrací chtějí dosáhnout. Skladba Esoptron je nebezpečně hypnotizující, perfektně poskládaná a řádně proechovaná ze všech stran.
Následují dva podobné tracky, které by snesly klasifikaci dark psytrance. Nejdříve nás přepadne Boddhisatva1320 vs Devic s vysokofrekvenčními skřípáky, a po něm našláplý nářez od Kerosene Club.
Projekt Triptronics (kooperace Kashhyk vs The Galactic Brain) si vzal na starost předposlední skladbu. Začátek je trochu funky, ale po chvilce se rytmus pořádně narovná a v zápětí jsme opět zaplaveni poctivou dávkou psychotických zvuku.
Poslední skladbou je v celku slušně odsejpající ranní věc od Electrypnose. Ostře nasekané zvuky zde kontrastují s decentními, pozitivně naladěnými melodiemi.
Kompilaci Vapour hodnotím rozhodně jako zajímavou na poslech i tanec. Je plná neobvykle zvučících tracků, které na sebe i přes velké rozpětí celkem slušně navazují. Na co byste měli rozhodně před poslechem tohoto počinu zapomenout, jsou typické psytrance šablony.
Element Of Time media is a new label to the psychedelic trance scene. It’s based in Dominican republic. Quite unusual location, but that does not actually matter today, when music can be legally distributed in shape of wav or mp3 files over the internet. The aim of the label is to release fresh and diverse psychedelic music without a need to fit within any borders. The first release of ETM is a compilation called Vapour. It brings together variety of psytrance branches; from twisted funky forest trance, through dancefloor compatible typical dark psytrance tracks, to totally distorted tunes. Over 85 minutes running time, 11 tracks that have passed through Lawrence Hoffman’s (aka Chromatone) mastering desk. So let’s have a look what’s in.

The compilation starts with experimental track called ’Input Flip’, which was originally written by Lemurians and now remixed by swedish madman Procs. This guy is known because of his distinctive weird-funky psytrance album ’Stuck in the oven with me’. This track is going more or less in the same style: uncertain rhythm and lot of organic sounds. Lemurian melodies are still noticeable in his remix.
Second track created by Mubali and Infinitesimal continues in similar manner. The rhythm is not much harder (although we could expect something hard-pounding from Mubali), bassline can’t stand on its place for a second, and the track is flooded with squeeking trippy sounds.
Halava is a collaboration of three macedonian projects - Atriohm, Encephalopaticys & Yudhisthira. Atriohm and Encephalopaticys usually bring us spooky stories from fog-flooded swamps and this one is not an exception. It’s again deep forest track, brightened a bit with decent goa melodies by Yudhisthira.
Ocelot brings some more pressure and tension. Great rhythm and percussions, fat bassline, but the story itself is somehow missing the point. Maybe we’re not supposed to find out what really is under the table.
Aldous B already appeared on several extremistic compilations such as ’Deep Mental Trauma’ or ’Predecessor’. His track on Vapour is so far the best one from him, it has got various industrial motives in it, ranging from hard sounds of destructed machinery to nanotechnology manipulations.
San Francisco based producer Ghreg On Earth created a power-noisy harshing track that disintegrates and consolidates again. Every sound is either perfectly clean, or totally hacked. All is rolled over with spine-chilling ambience and atmosphere. Great track, highlight of this compilation.
Encephalopaticys appears again, this time in different combo - with greek night trance project Kulu. The sounds here are well ordered and echoing from all sides. It’s obviouos that those two guys know what they’re creating, it’s dangerously hypnotising sound flow.
The next track by Boddhisatva 1320 vs Devic is a complete opposite. Restless thing with lots of high frequency screams. Kerosene Club brings some more conventional night psytrance sound with hard bassline. Energic track that will work on the dancefloor for sure.
The last but one track done by a new project Triptronics (combo of Kashyyk and The Galactic Brain) starts in a kind of funky style, but later on the rhythm hardens and we’re again flooded with a bunch of psychotic sounds that won’t let you rest (in peace).
Last track by Electrypnose is a fast paced morning floorfiller with sharply cut sounds in contrast with decent, positively tuned morning synthworks.
All in all, the tracks on this compilation are well chosen, mostly it flows fluently and sounds consistently. Since it’s going through a variety of psychedelic trance substyles, the listener gets not bored as happens in many cases today. Element Of Time media are here - as they claim on their website - to bring you diverse, interesting psychedelic music. I must admit they did their job well with this release. Typical psytrance schemes is the thing that you shall forget before putting Vapour in your playlist.
