Jak se díváte na loňský ročník SDF dnes na začátku
roku 2003?

Věříme, že SDF 2002 byl úspěšný festival. Tisíce lidí na něm tančily
více než týden!!! Bylo dobře postaráno o hudbu, dekorace i ostatní
záležistosti, které k festivalu patří. Hrála tam většina lidí, kteří
tvořili a stále tvoří nový zvuk a využívají nové dostupné technologie...
udělalo nám to opravdu radost, už jen kvůli tomu, že to bylo poprvé,
co se něco takového stalo...
Samozřejmě všechno nefungovalo tak, jak bylo plánováno. Vidíme samozřejmě
problémy s dopravou a cateringem, kterým musel festival loni čelit.
Máme teď o mnoho víc zkušeností, abychom se dokázali poprat s těmito
probémy a jednou provždy je vyřešit.

Věříme, že pozice SDF (po dvou úspěšných ročnících)
na řecké a světové scéně, změnilo náhled většiny řecké společnosti
na naše akce. Zcela jsme otevřeli dveře pro otevření a upevnění
místní scény, která v minulých letech nebyla kvůli špatným organizacím
a špatné publicitě přijímána dobře. Jsme rádi, že se to mění a že
se řecké outdoor scéna zvětšuje.
Samothraki Dance Festival 2002 byl velice úspěšný festival.
Jaké byly vaše osobní hudební zážitky z minulého roku?
Těžká otázka, protože všichni zahráli více než dobře! Když to vezmeme
po dnech...

Den první: Younger Brother (Simon Posford a Benji Vaughan hráli
představili jejich nové intelligent downtempo věci společně s remixy
starých věcí), Edoardo (majitel Neurobiotics), Space Tribe (Olli
Wisdom zahrál live act společně s mícháním tracků) Son Kite (více
než 4000 lidí si užilo jejich live act na progressivním stagi),
Emok (svěží a čistý danský zvuk z labelu Iboga)....

Den druhý: Christof (opravdu našlápnutý set se skvělými bassliny
a kicky), Pleiadians (jejich dlouho očekávané live vystoupení se
nedá popsat), Bamboo Forest (duo francouzských géniů uchvátilo stage
při jejich 2,5 hodinovém vystoupení), James Monro (jeden z jistot
pro plný parket) a Man With No Name (kterého musím zmínit, hrál
na mainstage a z průměrných 1000 lidí se zvětšil na šílících 4000
a to ve 15:00!) Bigwigs (polské trio v opravdu povedeném setu),
Atmos (jeden z vrcholů progressive stage).

Den třetí a čtvrtý: Orion (výborné psychedelické
záležitosti v novém zvuku), Dino Psaras (hrál skoro všechny druhy
hudby a předvedl tak svůj nový styl), Koxbox (pozvedli stage do
jiné úrovně s více Saikopod soundem), Tristan (velký muž, který
ví, jak na to), GMS (jako vždy zatřásli parketem), Serge (violently
relaxed ;), Mack (japonský dj, který každého překvapil), Electric
Universe (připoměli, co je dobrý psytrance), Tim Healy (vynikající
psy-tekkhouse tohoto anglického producenta), Quirk (inovativní hudba
na maximum), Doof (pokud jste promotér, pozvěte ho hrát!), Leni
(jeho uptempo set v chilloutu ho roztančil, jako kdyby to byla taneční
scéna).

Z chilloutu bychom vzpoměli na Adam S. & Shankar (opravdový live-act),
Andrew (muž za Interchill Records zahrál inovativní 6ti hodinový
set), Patchwork (super live), Ishq (ambient z hluboké jungle), Odo
(jistota pro chillout stage na maximum) a Grey Area (opravdový čaroděj
ze země Oz).

A samozřejmě nesmíme zapomenout na Hallucinogena,
jehož obě vystoupení na main a chillout stagi byly Vynikající. Nevíme,
jak to popsat, co dokáže Simon udělat s parketem. To se musí zažít!
Každý rok Hallucinogen ukončuje festival a podle nás je Simon nejvhodnějším
člověkem k tomuto úkolu, protože je celosvětově uznáván a sjednocuje
trancery z celého světa.

Určitě jsme nestihli hodně umělců kvůli našim starostem, ale jak
už jsme řekli předtím, všichni zahráli výborně...

Asi každého zajímá kolik lidí navštívilo festival minulý rok?

Co nám můžete prozradit o nadcházejícím Samothraki Dance Festival
2003? Máte nějakou vizi?
Každý ročník festivalu je pro nás něco nového ve
smyslu, že chceme pokaždé zorganizovat něco trochu odlišného a stále
inovovat... jen tak můžeme udržet náš festival zajímavý a dobrý.
Každý rok chceme přidat nějaké nové elementy, které festival změní
a zlepší jeho formu. Evoluce hudby je jedním z hlavních aspektů,
na který při produkci myslíme.... Chceme vytvořit prostor, kde lidé
mohou komunikovat, tančit a navázat spojení se zemí a vesmírem...
V roce 2003 hodláme představit unikátní festival s novou strukturou,
která se formovala v minulých letech...

Lidé, kteří tento rok přijedou, určitě pochopí o čem mluvím... ;)

Kolik podií chystáte pro tento rok a jako hudební směry na nich
chcete představovat?
SDF2003 bude mít 2 stage. Main Stage na stejném
místě jako každý rok! A Chillout Stage pod stromy jako v roce 2002!
Hudební směry na main stage se budou prolínat od full-on psychedelic
trance až ke groovy progressive.

DJs a projekty na main stage budou hrát na 140.000 W soundsystému
(loni 80.000 W) a na chillout stage chceme uvést 5+1 surround sound
system, který se vůbec poprvé objeví na outdoor festivalu.

V chilloutu uslyšíte směsici těch nejdůležitejších umělců z celého
světa hrajících relaxační hudbu a downtempo.
Více než 25 live acts a 60 djs je pro tento rok už potvrzeno...

A co chystáte v oblasti dekorací pro tento ročník?
Tento rok budeme mít na hlavním stagi dekorace
a interaktivní šílenosti od Alex bONE (GR, SolaLuna2001 - main stage,
sdf2002 - chill out stage) a v chilloutu Wild Frogz (UK, mnoho dekorací
na parties a festivalech kolem světa, SolaLuna2001 chillout).

Na visuály jsme si pozvali ElGeko (A) a další projeky pro oba stage
budou ještě oznámeny. Po předchozích dvou letech plných slunce jsme
se pro tento rok rozhodli zakrýt main stage s ....!????!... a poskytnout
tak dlouho očekávaný stín, kteří všichni potřebují....

A další věci, které svým návštěvníkům tento rok nabídnete?
Stalls & Market area bude samozřejmě součástí festivalu
a nabídne spoustu obchodů s oblečením, hudbou a doplňky! Pro další

Lidé budou moci relaxovat v Healing area s workshopy o yoze a dalšími,
budeme mít také dětské hřiště.

Vůbec poprvé se na festivalu objeví zvláštní oblast s filmovými
projekcemi, které poběží každou noc počas festivalu.

A spousta dalších věci jako různé happeningy, performance a žongléři
se právě organizují.

Kolik lístků bude pro tento rok v prodeji a jaké budou jejich
ceny?

Lístky na Samothraki 2003 jsou LIMITOVÁNY počtem
7000 kusů! Každému doporučujeme si lístek koupit co nejdříve, protože
přímo na festivalu jich bude k dostání jen pár.

Chceme chránit historii a přírodu ostrova a kvalitu festivalu, což
jsou hlavní důvody pro limitovaný počet vstupenek. Rozhodovali jsme
se o tom dlouho, ale věříme, že je to nejlepší řešení pro všechny....

Ceny vstupenek jsou tři v závislosti na tom, kdy si lístky koupíte.
Předprodej začíná 1. března. Vstupenka zahrnuje 7 dní festivalu
a kamping v jeho průběhu. Brány se otevřou 27. srpna a kemp se musí
vyklidit do 4. září.

International Presale Tickets Prices:

březen / duben : 70 euro
květen / červen: 100 euro
červenec / srpen: 135 euro
Východoevropské země(jako ta vaše, Maďarsko, Polsko atd.), Jižní
Afrika, Mexico, Brazilie, Rusko a další země se slabší ekonomikou:

březen / duben: 60 euro
květen / červen: 70 euro
červenec / srpen: 100 euro

A pozor! Lístky pro březen a duben budou limitovány na 1000 kusů,
takže nejlepší bude si je pořídit co nejdříve!

Jak už jste zmínili dříve, loni byly problémy se dostat na ostrov.
Někdo musel čekat až dva dny, než se dostal na loď. Plánujete nějaké
řešení tohoto problému? Nebo máte nějaké doporučení pro návštěvníky
tohoto ročníku?

Minulý rok jsme museli čelit problémům s dopravou
na & z ostrova. Pro tento rok jsme konečně podepsali smlouvu s lodní
společností a lidé si budou moci zarezervovat lístek na loď skrze
náš web.

Budeme mít dva SDF stánky v přístavech v Alexandroupoli a Samothraki,
kde si lidé, kteří si je nerezervují, budou moci koupit a ti ostatní
vyzvednout své rezervace... Jsme si jistí, že tímto způsobem vyřešíme
dopravní problemy. Chceme se také omluvit všem, kteří měli loňský
rok problémy s dopravou na ostrov.

Nějaké překvapení, které není tajné? :-)
Jak již bylo řečeno, zastíněný mainstage. Opět
na festivalu zahrají Koxbox, Tristan, Hallucinogen, GMS, Serge,
Dino Psaras a James Monro vedle projektů a djs, kteří zde budou
poprvé jako Eat Static, X-Dream, Talamasca, Space Cat, Antaro a
Raja Ram...

Máme také několik nových čerstvých projektů, ale ty si zatím necháme
pro sebe! V chilloutu vystoupí Solar Quest, Patchwork, Ott, Pathaan,
Ed, Grey Area, Andrew & Neerav & Adam S. z Interchill records a
spousta dalších ještě oznámíme.

What are your feelings about last years SDF now in the beginning
of the year 2003?
We believe that sdf 2002 was a successfull festival.
Thousands of people were dancing for more than a week !!! Music,
deco and festival facilities were carefully taken care off. We hosted
most of the artists that they give birth and they still keep creating
new sounds and evolving through the new technologies that are introduced....
we are very happy for this as it was the first time for something
like it happened... Of course not everything went as planed. Looking
back we can obviously see the transportation and catering problems
that festival faced last year. We are much more experienced now,
to deal with these problems and give a final solution (once and
for all!!)...

We do believe that the establishment of sdf (after creating two
very successfull festivals) in the greek & global scene, changed
the perception of the way, that a big part greek society, used to
understand our actions. We definately opened the doors for the globalization
and reconstruction of the scene here, since the last years, thru
wrong organizations and bad publicity things were going down.. we
are definately happy for the way that things are now and that the
outdoor party scene in greece is getting larger.

Your personal musical highlights from the last year?
Hard question as all artists performed more than super!! we can
maybe take out some names of every day...
Day 1: Younger Brother (Simon Posford and Benji Vaughan introduced
new intelligent psychedelic downtempo stuff along with remixes of
older tracks),Eduardo (the owner of neurobiotic at his best), Space
Tribe (Olli Wisdom played his Live Act together with mixing tracks
and he took over the dancefoor for real!), Son Kite (more that 4000
people enjoyed their live act in the progressive stage), Emok (pure
and fresh danish sound from the iboga hq) ...
Day 2: Christof (a really storming set with some very powerfull
bass & kick lines) , Pleiadians (no words for the long awaited
live apperance), Bamboo Forrest (the french genius duet grabbed
the stage for their 2,5 hour killer Live Performance), James Monro
(one of the usual suspects for a blasting dancefloor!) and Man With
No Name (who i have to mention, played in the main stage and transformed
a medium 1000 people dancefloor to a screaming 4000 people dancefloor,
almost 15:00 !!), Bigwigs (the polish trio in a real nice apperance),
Atmos (one of the highlights of the progressive stage)
Day 3 & 4: Orion (very nice psychedelic tunes introducing
new sounds), Dino Psaras (mixing almost all kind of music, introducing
his new style), Koxbox (taking the dancefloor to another state,
presenting more the Saikopod sound),
Tristan (the big man knows how to deliver!) , GMS (as always they
rocked the dancefllor), Serge ("violently relaxed" ;)), Mack (the
japanese dj that surpised everyone) , Electric Universe (a reminder
of good psy trance), Tim Healy (excellent psy-teckhouse apperance
of the english producer), Quirk (innovating music at the maximum),
Doof (if you are promoter, invite him to play!), Leni (the uptempo
set of the chill out stage, rocked the chill out as it as was dancing
stage).
From the chill out stage we can surely point out Adam S.& Shankar
(a true live act), Andrew (the man behind interchill records, played
and innovating 6h set), Patchwork (suberb live action), Ishq (ambient
from the deep jungle!), Odo (the usual suspect of ambient stage,
played to the max) and Grey Area (one of the true wizards of oz...).

Last but definately not Least, we want to mention
Hallucinogen, whos all performances in main and chill out stage
were Excellent. Actually we dont have words to describe how Simon
can transform a dancefloor.. You have to experience yourself..!
Every year Hallucinogen finishes the festival and we believe that
Simon is the most appropriate artist as he gathers and unites all
trancers globally.
We did miss many artists though since we were around
but as we said before all artists performed excellent...

I think everyone is wondering how many people joined it last year?
10.000 people

What can you tell us about forthcoming SDF2003? Do you have any
vision about it?
For us every samothraki festival is something new, in a way , that
we want to organize something innovating and different every time...as
we think thats the only way that we can keep our festival interesting
& kicking. Every year we need to add new elements that will
change and improve the form of the festival. The evolution of the
music scene is one of the main aspects we ll always consider for
our festival production... We want to create a space where people
will communicate, dance and interact with the earth & space...
As for the 2003, we intend to present a unique festival introducing
a new structure that has been formed thru the last years..
People who will attend this summer will exactly understand what
we say now.. ;)
How many stages are you going to have and which musical directions
do you want to present at them?
Samothraki festival 2003 will host 2 music stages.
The Main Stage, as every year in the same place! And the chill out
stage, under the trees as 2002 fest! The musical directions in the
main stage will vary from full on psychedelic trance to groovy progressive
music..
In the main stage djs and live acts will perform on a 140.000 W
(sdf 2002 / 80.000 W) and in the chill out stage, we will proudly
present a 5+1 surround sound system that is launched for the 1st
time ever in an outdoor festival worldwide.

The chill out will host a mixture of the most important artist globally,
spininig relaxing and downtempo melodies…
More than 25 live Acts and 60 djs are confirmed to perform on both
stages…

What about deco for this year?

This year, at the main stage we will have the deco
& Interactive weirdness by Alex bONE (GR, solaluna2001 - main stage,
sdf2002 - chill out stage,) and at the chill out Wild Frogz (UK,
many deco in parties & festivals around the world, solaluna2001-chill
out).

El Geko (A) will be in charge, as last year, for the visuals in
the main stage and more visual artists will be announced, who will
perform in the main & chill out stage. This summer and after two
years of plenty of sun in the main dance floor, we decided to change
this by covering almost half of the main dancefloor with !???! and
providing the long awaited shade needed for the party animals…
And what about other facilities for your visitors?
A stalls & markets Area will be present and plenty
of shops will offer clothes, music and accessories! For inquiries
check our website.

You will be able to relax in a healing area with yoga workshops
and more, for fathers/mothers a children playground will be available
too.

For the 1st time a special area with movie projections will entertain
people all nights during the festival days…

Many more things like happenings, performances and jogglers are
organized now and will be scheduled.

What is the full amount of tickets avalaible and what the pricing
will be this year?
The tickets for samothraki 2003 will be LIMITED
to 7000. we would recommend to everyone to get their tickets now
as very few tickets will be available on the doors.

We want to protect the island’s history and nature and the quality
of the festival and these are the main reasons of having limited
tickets. We have considered a lot before we decide something like
this but we believe that this is the best for everyone to enjoy…

For sdf 2003 the presale tickets are subject to three prices depending
when you buy your ticket. Presale will start 1st of March.
The ticket includes the 7 day festival and camping thru the days
of the festival. Doors open 27 August and camping must be evacuated
on the 4th September.

Attention!!! The March / April presale tickets are limited to 1000
so it would be wise for everyone to purchase their tickets now!!
As you already mentioned above, there were problems to get to
the island last year. Someone should wait up to 2 days until they
got the place at the boat to get there. Do you plan any solution
to avoid this situation this year? Or do you have some recommendations
to the visitors of SDF2003?
Last year we faced some problems with the transportation
to & from the island .. For sdf 2003 we have finally come to an
agreement with the boat company and people will be able to book
their boat tickets thru our web.

We will have two SDF stands in the Alexandroupoli & Samothraki Ports,
where people who don’t have boat tickets will buy them and the ones
with reservations will receive them there.. Like this we are sure
that the transport problems are totally solved. Here we want to
apologise to all the people that had a rough time getting to the
island in 2002.

Any surprise which is not secret? :-)
Shaded main stage will be provided for the new
festival including the usual suspects (!) Koxbox, Tristan, Hallucinogen
, GMS, Serge, Dino Psaras and James Monro are some along with Bands
& djs performing for the first time time in the festival as Eat
Static, X Dream, Talamasca, Space Cat, Antaro and Raja Ram..

We have some full fresh bands performing as well but we will leave
this for the end!! In the chill out stage, djs and live acts will
include Solar Quest, Patchwork, Ott, Pathaan, Ed, Grey Area, Andrew
& Neerav & Adam S. from Interchill records plus many more to be
announced..
In the next days the new official festival website will be up and
